Education Controversy at the Center of the Republican Presidential Race

 

Education issues have been vaulted to the top of the Republican Presidential race in recent months due to the focus of the current administration on Common Core State Standards. Common Core has emerged as one of the most controversial issues for the GOP with the party split nearly evenly on whether to support or oppose the policy. Many Republican candidates have been vocal about their opposition to Common Core and have used it as a weapon to attack the Obama administration. Other education issues getting attention in the primary race are school choice, funding for education, and college affordability. However, Common Core appears to be the major education battleground in the GOP race.
